
Salma Hayek Pinault born Salma Valgarma Hayek-Jimenez (born 2 September 1966)[3][4][5] is a Mexican and American actor as well as film producer. Her career began in Mexico by playing a lead role in the television drama Teresa (1989-1991) as well as the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) for which she was awarded an Ariel Award nomination. From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999), Dogma (1999) and Desperado (1995) were but among her many Hollywood credits. Hayek's portrayal of painter Frida Kahlo in the biographical film Frida (2002) that she also produced and directed, was the first Mexican actress to be recognized for the Academy Award for Best Actress[6as well as earning her Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek continued to produce, while starring in action-oriented pictures Once Upon a Time in Mexico later on in her career.
