The Joint Leadership of the United States Congress (Congressional Award Board of Directors) awards the Horizon Award a special recognition. The Horizon Award is given to people working in the private sector that have helped to expand opportunities for all Americans. It also recognizes people who have set exemplary example for children through their accomplishments in life. Tom was a wonderful co-player, grateful to be included with such a talented and experienced team, who were constantly practicing and working hard when his Magnum schedule permitted .... He was very patient with all of us, and we enjoyed the large crowds that replaced the sparse number of players' spouses and friends during the national tournament matches. ".
